Annual Report 2015-16

 

Honourable  Chief Guest of the day, Air Commodore Rajesh Purohit , VSM, Air Officer Commanding, AFS, Kalaikunda & the chairman VMC, most esteemed guest of  honour, Mrs. Kachnar Purohit, President , AFWWA ( L) ,respected members of  the VMC, distinguished guests, Principal’s of neighboring Kendriya Vidyalayas & Air force school, parents, my dedicated teachers, staff members and dear students, a very pleasant afternoon to one and all.

On behalf of the whole team of K V No.2 Kalaikunda, I have great pleasure in this wonderful afternoon in welcoming our Honorable Chief Guest of the day Air Commodore Rajesh Purohit ,VSM, Air Officer Commanding, AFS, Kalaikunda, who readily accepted our invitation in spite of  his busy schedule, I welcome our guest of honour Mrs. Kachnar Purohit, president AFWWA (L),AFS, Kalaikunda ,really we are very happy to have madam with us in this KV2 campus for the first time. I  welcome  our nominee chairman Gp Capt G Ananth ,C Admn O ,AFS, Kalaikunda , Mrs. G. Ananth, Gp Capt Manas Saha , CO , 4AFH, AFS, Kalaikunda, Wg Cdr B. Mishra, OIC Edn  and other members of the vidyalaya management committee ,Principal’s of neighboring  KV’s & H M of air force school, Parents and Guardians who have assembled here to boost our morale and make this celebration a grand success. 

In today's celebration our main heroes are our students so welcoming them and their parents too along with other ladies and gentlemen.

 

As Principal(I/C), I take the opportunity to present the Annual report for this academic session 2015-16. Kendriya Vidyalayas are co-educational Schools which are under the control of Kendriya vidyalaya Sangathan  with its headquarters at New Delhi. KVS is a registered society under the Societies Registration Act of 1860. The society is an autonomous body under the department of School Education and Literacy, Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India.

This Vidyalaya is directly controlled by the Deputy Commissioner, KVS, Regional Office, Kolkata. At the local level, Vidyalaya Management Committee and Vidyalaya Executive Committee, under the chairmanship of Air Officer Commanding, 5 Wing, AFS, Kalaikunda render the necessary guidance and help in smooth running of the Vidyalaya.

Admission:-

Admission in this vidyalaya for the session 2015-16 was made strictly according to the guidelines of the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan. We have admitted 25% of seats in class I i.e., 30 seats as per  RTE  Act 2009.

KV TC students and 06 seats for SGC candidates were admitted  over and above strength in this session according to the norms. Rest of the seats has been filled according to the priority of the category from the list of lots drawn by the Committee. Vacant seats in other classes were also filled up as per our admission guidelines.

Humanities stream had been started in this vidyalaya from this session.

Fresh admission in this session are as follows:

Class I (125); Class II (26); Class III( 06); Class IV(07); Class V (16); Class VI (07)

Class VII (04); Class VIII (06); Class IX (02) ; Class IX (02) ; Class XI Humanities (05).

 

Student strength:-

As on date the student strength is 1301out of which 749 boys, 552 girls,125 SC and 32 ST.

As per category:

424 Cat I, 23 Cat II, 38 Cat III, 21 Cat IV & 795 Cat V

 

Staff strength :-

The Vidyalaya has full sanctioned strength of teaching post in all subjects. The teacher is to student ratio is 1:26. The faculty includes 12 PGT’s,14TGT’s,17 PRT’s and 01 Librarian.22 teaching posts are lying vacant for which part time teachers were engaged. In the administrative side, we have 01 Assistant, 01 LDC and 05 Sub-Staffs.

Library:-

The heart of any educational institution is considered as its library. The vidyalaya library has good furnishings and equipments. We subscribe 06 daily newspapers and some 30 weekly and monthly magazines. This session we have added 501 new books to its shelves. Open Access System is followed to provide freedom to choose  resources  and facilitate its maximum usage for both teachers and students. Library is fully automated. National Book Week has been observed from 14th Nov, 2015  to 20th Nov, 2015. We have also arranged a 03 day BOOK FAIR by Scholastic Publishers in our vidyalaya premises.

 

Computer Facility:-

This vidyalaya is equipped with 62 computers, distributed over  3 well planned computer labs. 26 computers among them are connected with BSNL Broadband LAN. The student : computer ratio is 1:21 . we have 10 e-classrooms for a section in each class from  III to XII with well equipped interactive boards, visualizers and projectors .

The journey with the students is always  very exciting and our staff puts their best efforts to find out the hidden qualities of our students. It is very important to boost up the confidence level of the students so that issues such as stage fear, not mixing with others, command on the language etc. is totally eradicated from an early age. For which we conduct various activities in different fields like scout and guides, sports, co-curricular activities, exhibitions etc.

 Scouts and Guides:-

Scout and guide activities are going on in full fledge under the guidance of a group of trained Scout Masters, Guide Captains and Flock Leader. As on date we have 105 Scouts,65 Guides, 100 Cubs and 50 Bulbuls. 06 Scouts and 05 Guides qualified in Rajya Puraskar Testing Camp held at KV Chittaranjan, 10 Scouts and 08 Guides had passed in Tritiya Sopan Testing Camp, 13 Guides and 30 Scouts qualified in Dwitiya Sopan Testing Camp. Various activities like Swachchata Abhiyaan, Flag Day Celebration, Sarva Dharam Parthana, Hiking, March past, etc. were conducted throughout the session.

Sports:

This Vidyalaya provides excellent sports facilities to the students. Laurels were added to the crown of the School by the students who were recognized with awards and position under different events and categories from various classes.

Total 60 students participated in KVS Regional Sports Meet at different KV Venues held from 18th August, 2015 to 20th August, 2015. In regional level, our students got 22 Medals out of which 03 Gold Medals and 19 Bronze Medal.

Our Vidyalaya was given the responsibility to conduct U-19 regional football meet 2015 from 18/08/2015 to 20/08/2015. Total 18 teams from the region participated  and our school finished third in the tournament. The vidyalaya had also conducted the coaching camp of  U-19 football team from 21st August 2015 to 30th August 2015  and the team secured 3rd position in National Level .

Feathers were further added by six students who were selected for the 46th National Sports Meet 2015-16. Cash prize of Rs. 2000/- each and bronze medal was also bagged by the students for their outstanding performance in football in National Level.

Annual Sports Day was celebrated on 24th Nov. 2015 in which 23 different events including relay race of different houses were conducted successfully for different classes and wings.

Co-curricular Activities:-

Since Kendriya Vidyalayas  are known as Pace Setting Institutions for the all round development of the students, various co-curricular activities like Group Song, Group Dance, Solo Song, Solo Dance, Poem Recitation, Debate And Essay Writing, Art And Drawing, Calligraphy Competitions,etc.  were organized during the year under CCA. Maximum participation was ensured in these competitions.

Total 28  CCA activities for different groups were conducted during the session.

For the purpose of inter house activities, the students of the vidyalaya are divided into four houses, i.e., MunshiPremchand, KalpanaChawla, S. Radhakrishnan, And  Dhyandchand. The vidyalaya also observes all National festivals and birth anniversaries of eminent personalities with proper decorum and solemnity.

Apart from the National Festivals, the following important days or weeks were enthusiastically celebrated in the vidyalaya during the year: Teachers Day, Children day, National Unity day- run for unity, Flag Day, World Health Day, National Education Day, Vigilance Week, Communal Harmony Day, Environmental day, Anti –corruption Day, Human Rights Day, Hindi Diwas, Hindi Pakhwada Diwas, Sanskrit Diwas, etc.

Different activities related to Swachch  Bharat Abhiyan , Hindi Pakhwara, Library week were conducted in the session.

 CMP Report:-

Our primary students had participated in different cluster level CMP meets and shown remarkable performance. In cubs & bulbul utsav our student had bagged 2nd position in memory game;

in cluster level sports we had bagged 2nd position in kho-kho (girls), 1st & 2nd position in 75 mtr run (girls), 3rd position in 3 legged race (boys), 1st & 2nd position in 100 mtr race (girls);

in cluster level CCA 1st in group  dance,  group song , quiz, English poem recitation, English storytelling, hindi speech & 2nd in english speech.

I would like to mention here that our students have also participated and bagged prizes in different competitions organized by AFWA , 5 wing, AFS, kalaikunda.

 

Science & Social Science Exhibitions:

As a platform for bursting out of creative ideas of our students school level scince & social science exhibitions were conducted in our vidyalya and the selected participants were sent for regional level &cluster level competitions respectively.

This session we were given the scope to organize cluster level social science exhibition in our vidyalaya and we had organized it successfully. Our vidyalaya had bagged 3rd position in group song in cluster level social science exhibition which was held in KV command hospital.

 

Academic Achievements:-

The vidyalaya is working smoothly in ensuring a better and brighter future for our students and enabling them to become  responsible and honest citizens of the country.

In the session 2014-15, 107 students appeared in Class-X All India Secondary School Examination, all passed and 06 students scored CGPA 10/10. 37.38% of the students scored CGPA 8 and above.

34 students appeared in Class-XII All India Secondary SchoolCertificate Examination. 33 students passed with the top score of 96.6% by Master AbhishekBakshi, who made us proud by standing 2nd in the Kolkata Region. 35 % of the students secured 75% or more and 12% of students have secured more than 90%. 06 students who scored CGPA 10/10 in AISSE-2015, Master Abhishek Bakshi and Master Shubhabrata Dutta who scored more than 95% marks in AISSCE-2015 were awarded with merit certificates and cash prize of Rs. 5000/- each. Two of our students Miss Debasmita Bhakat and Master Vikash Rajak were selected for Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Medha Puraskar-2015 and awarded with cash prize of Rs. 5000/- each by the Welfare Society of the Government of West Bengal.

In Internal Examination from class I to VIII, we have got 100% pass; in Class IX       , Pass % was 72.41% and in Class XI, Pass% was 76.31%.

Teacher Achievements:-

We are living in times where the pace of events is so fast, in fact that today’s latest becomes obsolete tomorrow. Constant changes are must. In educating today’s children we cannot afford to lose sight of the fact that we must teach them to grapple with the problems of  their generations, their society and their world. As per that our staffs had under gone different trainings and workshops throughout the year to update themselves .

02 PGT’s and 01 TGT have undergone respective In-Service Course. PGT Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics have undergone workshop conducted by KVS, RO Kolkata.

PGT Biology attended workshop on Professional Development. PGT Mathematics, TGT Social Studies, TGT Science, 02PRT’s and  LDC  had attended workshop conducted by Zonal Institute of Education and Training, Bhubaneshwar. 01 PRT attended workshop on hygiene and sanitation conducted by Zonal Institute of Education and Training, Gwalior. PGT(English) is selected as mentor for Adolescence Education Programme in the Kolkata region.01 TGT & 01 PRT had attended basic course for scout master and 02 TGT’s had attended basic course for guide captains, from primary section two teachers had completed Certificate Programme for  Proffessional Development of Primary Teachers and 06 more were registered for the same.

Hope I have been able to give an impression of our vidyalaya in support of the fact that it is  a pace setting institution.

I extend my gratification to our Deputy Commissioner Shri N. R. Murali, Assistant commissioners Shri T. Brahmanandam , Shri G. C. Gorain & Shri M. D. Sahu for their guidance and assistance for smooth running of this vidyalaya. I also extend my gratification to the Principal’s of the neighboring  KV’s  , members of VMC for their guidance and assistance.

We are always in touch with the Air Force Administration for their valuable advice and suggestions. I think  with proper guidance from our Hon’ble Chairman of the Vidyalaya Air Cmde Rajesh Purohit ,VSM, other officials of  5 wing, AFS, kalaikunda & other members of VMC , we will definitely proceed further in each and every field.

I thank all the distinguished guest , parents, members of staff and the students for their wholehearted cooperation and sincere efforts in making each activity of the school highly successful.

I pray my homage to the spiritual soul of the three students whom we had lost in this session.

I would like to conclude this report with a hope of  better performance in each and every field, so that, we come up to the best satisfaction of the authority, parents & Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan.
